Title: Step by Step
Author: K.C. Wells
Genre: M/M Romance
Release Date: March 13, 2017
Jamie’s life is one big financial mess, and it really isn’t his fault. However, the last thing he expected to find in the library was a Good Samaritan. He might have been suspicious of Guy’s motives at first, but it soon becomes apparent that his savior is a good man who has been lucky in life and is looking to pay it forward. Guy being gay is not a problem. Jamie’s not interested… or so he thinks.
Guy is happy to help Jamie, and the two men get along fine. But when Jamie’s curiosity leads him from one thing to another, Guy finds himself looking at the young man with new eyes. What started out as a hand up is now something completely different….
“Please, tell me you’re tapping that gorgeous ass,” Troy said in a low voice.
Guy followed Troy’s gaze to where Jamie stood next to Cole, talking and smiling with Simon Bexter. Guy smiled to himself. Perfect. Cole had caught on to Guy’s plan.
Then Troy’s words hit home. “Excuse me?”
Troy indicated Jamie with a nod of his head. “Your so-called roommate. Only that’s a euphemism, right?” He gave Guy a sideways glance. “You are fucking him, right?”
“Wrong.” Guy set his jaw. It wasn’t the first time that evening that he’d heard that assumption. “One, he’s straight, and—”
Troy snorted. “And what’s wrong with that? He just doesn’t know what he’s missing.” He leered. “You could be the one to teach him how to take a dick.”
Guy tried not to growl. “And two, I’m helping him get a good start in life. Like someone once did for me.” Right then he was asking himself why he’d invited Troy in the first place.
Troy groaned. “Seriously? Just look at him. That is one beautiful specimen of manhood right there.”
Guy watched how Jamie interacted with others. It was funny, but until that moment, he’d never seen him as a man. He was just…. Jamie. But Troy had a point. Jamie’s creamy skin, gorgeous blue eyes, and slim figure all added up to a beautiful man.
How come I never saw him so clearly before?

Maybe it was because Jamie was straight. Guy wasn’t in the habit of lusting after straight guys. He’d had his fingers burned in the past, and on both occasions, it hadn’t turned out well. Maybe that was why his brain had refused to acknowledge what he was now seeing: Jamie was lovely.

Then Jamie glanced across at him and his eyes lit up.
“Ooh, someone’s happy,” Troy said in a singsong voice. “Look at that smile.” He nudged Guy with his elbow. “You play your cards right and you could have that tasty piece of ass warming your sheets tonight.”
Guy turned to Troy with a sigh of exasperation. “You don’t listen, do you? Not going to happen. You got that? Now go find yourself someone else to pester.” He had no idea why Troy’s suggestions evoked such a strong reaction in him, but he wasn’t about to spend time fathoming it out. Not when Jamie was walking over to him.
Troy huffed and left him to go to the bar, and Guy was fine with that. He’d known Troy for years, but recently he had changed. He’d become a pig, pure and simple. At least Guy could see that now.
Well, no more.

Jamie stopped in front of him, his face glowing. “Thank you.” The words were uttered fervently but quietly.
“For what?”
Jamie’s smile hadn’t dimmed. “I figured it out, with a little help from Cole. You put a lot of thought into that guest list, didn’t you?”
Guy played the innocent. “I’m sure I have no idea what you’re talking about.” When Jamie continued to stare, he had to relent. “Okay, so I might have invited a few lawyers.” He nodded in Cole’s direction. “I got the impression you were a little awestruck when I introduced you to Cole.”
Jamie chuckled. “That would be an understatement. I may have a mild case of hero-worship.”
“Hero?” Guy widened his eyes. “Wow.” He buffed his fingernails on his shirt. “Guess I did good, then.”
Jamie laughed. “Better than good. You are one cool guy, do you know that?”
Fuck, the light in his eyes….

Guy steered himself away from that particular thought, but he had to admit it had shaken him. When was the last time someone looked at me like that?
The sad thing was, he couldn’t remember.
Guy pulled himself together. “So are you done schmoozing for the night, or is Cole about to introduce you to another mover and shaker?”
Jamie laughed again, and Guy loved its natural, unforced quality. Even his laughter makes me feel good. He gave himself a mental slap. He did not want to think about Jamie like that.
Guy smiled. “I’m going to mingle and make sure everybody’s happy. Cole looks like he’s taking good care of you.” He reached out and squeezed Jamie’s shoulder. “I’m glad you’re having a good time.”
To his surprise Jamie gave him a quick hug. “Thank you,” he whispered before releasing him and disappearing in Cole’s direction.
Guy stared after him, shocked by the unexpected display of affection. Then Troy stepped into his line of sight, his lips contorted into a smirk, his eyebrows arched.
Guy slowly turned away and headed into the living room.
Nope. Not going there.

K.C. Wells started writing in 2012, although the idea of writing a novel had been in her head since she was a child. But after reading that first gay romance in 2009, she was hooked.
She now writes full time, and the line of men in her head, clamouring to tell their story, is getting longer and longer. If the frequent visits by plot bunnies are anything to go by, that’s not about to change anytime soon.

Time doesn't heal.
Time hurts.
Makes you stronger, rougher,
And smarter.

Now that I'm back,
Xavier Scott can't hurt me again,
Won't hurt me.
I've seen my share of pain,
Felt it,
Owned it,
And released it.

After one look,
One touch,
One tremble,
And I'm that broken, naive girl again.

I want him,
My body aches for him,
My soul needs him.
But, my head will be damned to fall for that again,
Fall for X.

He stole my heart before,
But not this tyme.

EXCERPT

Taking a deep breath, I open the door. I pop open my mouth, only to close it just as fast. My vision goes to Naomi’s face, with her stage makeup caked on, but her hair down, falling over her shoulders. In waves. Begging me to wrap my hand around it.
But that’s not what does me in.
Not even in the slightest.
Naomi is in a bra and panties.
Nothing else.
Black lace bra and see through panties at that.
I’m in heaven—I’m in holy hell.
“Oh lord, X, I thought you were Penny.” She’s breathless, but makes zero attempt to cover herself up.
Lord, strike me dead or help a brother out. Because either way, I’m fucked.
Royally.
I drop the flowers over the bulge in my pants and gather strength to speak without my voice cracking like a twelve-year-old boy. “Do you open the door like that to everyone?”
“What if I did?” She props her hands on hips, and each time her chest moves, the piercings in her nipples catch the light like a fire—a fire that is spreading over me.
“I would say I need to knock on your door more often.”
Every single goddamn day. Every damn hour. Every damn minute. Naomi is my damn angel standing right in front of me.
“I think you knocked on my door two times too many. Where’s Charlie?”
“The hovering was driving her nuts, so she called Hadley for a sleepover.”
She raises her brow, but a grin plays on her lips. Naomi’s happy I’m here. “Why are you here?”
Clearing my throat over the emotions trying to get out, I take a stab at a conversation. “I wanted to give you these and tell you I enjoyed the show.”
Naomi eyes the flowers, the grin turning into a smirk. “Why are you really here?”
Swallowing deeply, I feel my Adam’s apple bob in my throat. “To see if you wanted to go on a date with me.”
A date. A real one where I don’t have to hide her from anyone or keep her a secret. A date that’s seven years too late.
I’m so fucking addicted to her, all that she does, the way she moves.
Everything.
“Why?”
“Because I want to?” It comes out as a question, only I didn’t want it to.
“No.”
“Yes, just one.”
“Xavier, we’ve tried to make this into something it clearly wasn’t. Why would we try to do that again?”
I take a step closer to her. “It’s not clear from my side. I think about you all the time.”
Every day.
Every second.
“You think about what’s between my legs, nothing more.”
I stare into her dark brown eyes, and with every breath she takes, I know her words are just a shield she’s using to protect herself. “It’s much more than that…so much more. I think about your tits, your moans, your screams. Don’t get me wrong, the sex is good.”
“Good?”
Another inch closer to her, and her chest moves rapidly.
“Fucking eye rolling, teeth clenching, earth splitting in two, fantastic. But that’s not the only thing I want. I want you. Your brain, the conversations. You. It’s you. That help your pride any?”
“Yes.”
“Can I tell you something?”
“Yes.”
“I want you. In more ways than I can count.” Another step closer, I now tower over her.

Release: March 15, 2017
Life makes no promises, and sometimes, you draw the short straw. Landon Johnston’s life came to a grinding halt seven months ago, when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. With the encouragement of his grandmother, Landon works his way out of his slump and tries to live life while he still can. Deciding he doesn’t want to drag anyone else down his morbid path, Landon gives up all friendships and denies himself love. It’s better this way, because all he has to offer is eventual heartache and sadness. While traveling the world, Landon meets Abel Matheson, a free-spirited, unedited, and nerve-grating man who was supposed to only be a one-night-stand. Despite Landon’s insistence that he can’t form a relationship with his current diagnoses, Abel is persistent and will not be ignored. Fighting against all his ingrained urges to run, Landon finds himself drawn down the road he swore he’d never take. Intimacy grows and bonds form… Only… Abel doesn’t know Landon is sick. How can anyone love a man with no future? Telling him might cause him to run, but staying silent means living a lie. A lie which will only reveal itself in time.
“This. Book. Broke my heart. Healed my soul. Made me cry. Laugh. Made me Hug my daughter and kiss my husband. No regrets.” - Alpha Book Club
“My heart hurts, my eyes are red and puffy and I am in the biggest slump I have been in for awhile. This book destroyed me, it's a story that will forever have a place in my heart, I have No Regrets <3” - Saucy Reviews on Kinky Korner
“No Regrets is a heart wrenchingly, ugly cry worthy ( and oh boy I cried) wonderful love story.I loved the characters. I loved the words. I could feel the characters emotions in every single one.” - Goodreads Review
The silence returned as we continued with our drinks. Abel was the one to break first when he slid his empty cup aside and leaned in, talking in a hushed voice. “So, Landon from Canada, computer nerd and Spiderman wannabe. I’m gonna cut the shit and be blunt.”
“You mean, more blunt?”
“Yeah, more blunt, so brace yourself. You’re incredibly hot and I wanna find a room somewhere and fuck you senseless.”
“Oh. Umm…”
Who the hell says shit like that?
“There is a pub a block down. Let me buy you a couple of drinks and help you relax, because you’re all stiff and uptight. Then, what do you say we find somewhere private after that?”
I had to search for my words because they’d fallen into a gaping chasm of disbelief. “You’re awfully presumptuous.”
“I can be. But, you haven’t told me to fuck off yet, so I’m guessing you’ve been considering it too.”
Yeah, I’d been considering it since he stood in line for drinks twenty minutes ago. Is that how these things worked? Hey, wanna fuck? Sure, let’s go.
Swallowing the dry lump from my throat, I pinned him with a glare, doing my best to show confidence even though I trembled on the inside. “Maybe I am. Only, I don’t drink.”
More like I couldn’t drink, at least not with the massive array of medications I took. It was something I had to give up long ago. What I wouldn’t have given for a beer to calm me down. He was right, I was wound tighter than a spring.
“A twenty-six-year-old, non-drinker. You just get more and more interesting. I’ll have to find other ways to get you to relax then. I can be creative. Are you here with anyone?”
“No. I umm… I came alone.”
“Do you have a room nearby?”
“What about your friends? Won’t they be looking for you?”
He chuckled. “Nah, they’ll be drinking themselves stupid half the night and won’t even know I’m not there.”
“Oh… umm…”
“A room?”
My gaze dropped to the table once again. My blood pressure rose with each slam of my heart against my ribcage. Why the hell was I so nervous? It wasn’t like I was some virgin or anything. I took a deep breath and tried to rein in the suffocating emotion before it got out of hand.
Shifting my gaze to my notebook, I saw my list in my head again and heard my grandmother’s words.
If I died tomorrow, I’d have no regrets. Can you say the same thing?
I was sure this wasn’t what she meant. Sorry, grandma.
Time to tick off another one.
“Fuck it. Yes, I have a room a block down the road.” With another shaky breath, I pushed my half-empty mug aside and grabbed my notebook. “What happens in China stays in China, right?” Standing, I glanced back at him.
His grin was facetious as he sucked the corner of his bottom lip into his teeth. “It’s not Vegas, but I think it applies.”

Sofia
I knew little of Raphael Amado’s history with my family, but when he turned up on our doorstep demanding restitution, my grandfather quickly conceded. That restitution? Me.
Six months later, on my eighteenth birthday, Raphael came for me. He stole me from my home, taking me to his Tuscan estate, where from the crumbling chapel to the burnt-down vineyard, to the cellar that haunted him, the past stalked him like a shadow. It waited for him, hid behind corners for him and trapped him at every turn.
As much as Raphael’s cruelty terrified me, his darkness seduced me. But in the end, it was his tenderness that devastated me.
Raphael
Sofia came to me like an offering. Like a virgin to be sacrificed at the altar. But truth was, her grandfather betrayed her. I guess we had that in common. He’d screwed me too.
I knew hate. I'd vowed vengeance. This was never supposed to be about anything else. But in the end, her innocence broke me. The very thing I would destroy, destroyed me.

Genre: Romantic Suspense/Dark Romance
Release Date: March 14, 2017

Blurb

Once upon a time, I thought love was a fairytale.

I thought selling myself to a mafia boss was noble. So what if they called him the Beast? I grew up in rags, and he would lift me to riches. All I had to do was give him my soul.

He was punishing. Insatiable. Captivating. Nothing like I expected him to be. Each day my reality blurred, leaving me wondering if I was slave or princess.

The longer I stayed, the more I lost myself to him. Even after every cruelty the Beast visited upon me, I longed for his touch. Even after every savage word he spoke, I begged for his lips. I thought the worst thing he could take was my body. I was too naïve to guard my heart.

Once upon a time, I thought love was a fairytale.

Now I know better than to speak of happily ever afters.

Beast is the first book in the Hate Story duet. About what it means to fall in love with the person who has absolutely destroyed you, it contains disturbing and graphic situations that may be a trigger for some.
