This is ridiculous, he mentally chided himself. All of the heat was coming out of her house because he was being an idiot and refusing to go inside. Just because he accepted her invitation to go in, didn’t mean he had to stay the night. He could just go in and maybe hang out for a bit. Watch a little TV. Or maybe…

“Dean?”

“Hmm?”

Before he could even blink, Abby reached out and pulled him by his wool scarf into the house and shut the door. The house was dark and - thanks to him - a little cool, but he was able to clearly see the look of amusement on Abby’s face as she moved in close. One of her delicate hands rested on his chest while the other raked up into his hair.

He really liked when she did that.

“Let me ask you something,” she began quietly - her voice going slightly sultry. “Do you want to go home?”

Unable to speak, he simply shook his head.

“Okay.” She gave him a curt nod before moving in even closer. They were practically touching from head to toe. Those big green eyes looked up at him and he knew he’d been fighting with himself over nothing.

“I kind of felt like I was being presumptuous,” he admitted. “We had a great day together and...well...this was really our first date. I didn’t want you to feel like I was pressuring you or pushing you into something you didn’t want.”

“We’d already talked about it,” she said simply. “Hell, I almost skipped dessert because I was really looking forward to coming back here and finally being alone with you.”

His own dark eyes went wide. “Really?”

Abby nodded. “Honestly, I would have been fine with grabbing a pizza and staying in.”

Dean couldn’t help the laugh that came out. “Sure, now you tell me!” he teased right before he reached up and cupped Abby’s cheek in one hand. He stroked the soft skin and then he turned serious. “I meant what I said, Abby. I just didn’t want you to think that this was all I wanted. I really enjoyed going out with you today and I think you know enough about me to know that it’s not something I usually do.”

“I know. That’s why I didn’t throw out my pizza suggestion,” she said, her own expression serious. “It means a lot to me that you were willing to go out tonight and leave your comfort zone. You didn’t have to.” Then she got up on her toes and placed a soft kiss on the side of his throat. “But I’m really glad you did.”

There were so many things swirling around in his head that he wanted to say, but none of it seemed...enough. He wasn’t good with talking about his feelings. That wasn’t his style. But he could show her.

He could spend all night showing her.

Leaning down, he kissed her. It was the kind of kiss that you eased in to - that built up momentum and left you anxious for the next one. And boy oh boy was he anxious for the next one. And the one after that. Abby let out a soft hum that he actually could feel and knew she was feeling exactly as he was.

It was all the encouragement he needed.

Sheets of rain blurred his vision, instantly drenching his jeans and T-shirt. A slow smile crept across his face as he tipped his chin up, soaking in the shower of freedom. He made his way around the dark building and climbed the wooden stairs to the deck outside his apartment. He could have used the interior door, but after being behind bars for six long years, Truman took advantage of the small pleasures he’d missed out on, like determining his own schedule, deciding when to eat and drink, and standing in the f**king rain if he wanted to. He leaned on the rough wooden railing, ignoring the splinters of wood piercing his tattooed forearms, squinted against the wetness, and scanned the cars in the junkyard they used for parts—and he used to rid himself of frustrations. He rested his leather boot on the metal box where he kept his painting supplies. Truman didn’t have much—his old extended-cab truck, which his friend Bear Whiskey had held on to for him while he was in prison, this apartment, and a solid job, both of which were compliments of the Whiskey family. The only family he had anymore. Emotions he didn’t want to deal with burned in his gut, causing his chest to constrict. He turned to go inside, hoping to outrun thoughts of his own f**ked-up family, whom he’d tried—and failed—to save. His cell phone rang with his brother’s ringtone, “A Beautiful Lie” by 30 Seconds to Mars. “F**k,” he muttered, debating letting the call go to voicemail, but six months of silence from his brother was a long time. Rain pelleted his back as he pressed his palm to the door to steady himself. The ringing stopped, and he blew out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d trapped inside. The phone rang again, and he froze. He’d just freed himself from the dredges of hell that he’d been thrown into in an effort to save his brother. He didn’t need to get wrapped up in whatever mess the drug-addicted fool had gotten himself into. The call went to voicemail, and Truman eyed the metal box containing his painting supplies. Breathing like he’d been in a fight, he wished he could paint the frustration out of his head. When the phone rang for the third time in as many minutes, the third time since he was released from prison six months ago, he reluctantly answered. “Quincy.” He hated the way his brother’s name came out sounding like the enemy. Quincy had been just a kid when Truman went to prison. Heavy breathing filled the airwaves. The hairs on Truman’s forearms and neck stood on end. He knew fear when he heard it. He could practically taste it as he ground his teeth together. “I need you,” his brother’s tortured voice implored. Need me? Truman had hunted down his brother after he was released from prison, and when he’d finally found him, Quincy was so high on crack he was nearly incoherent—but it didn’t take much for f**k off to come through loud and clear. What Quincy needed was rehab, but Truman knew from his tone that wasn’t the point of the call. Before he could respond, his brother croaked out, “It’s Mom. She’s really bad.” teaser-4 About Melissa Foster: melissa-author-photoo Melissa Foster is a New York Times & USA Today bestselling and award-winning author. “You’re gorgeous. Even better looking than the day I fell in love with you.”

The words are a constant reminder of what true love is. Olivia Dawson’s alarm goes off at the same time every day and she disappears into her room to hear Duncan’s voice, see his face, miss him even more for being untouchable. Olivia loves with her entire heart, and her love for Duncan is unmatched, but there’s something about her new roommate she just can’t seem to ignore—no matter how hard she tries.

“I miss you so much.”
“Can’t be more than I miss you.”

The words are a constant reminder of how unavailable Olivia is, and Bryson Daniels isn’t one for competition off the baseball field, but since the moment he knocked on the door to his new apartment and his roommate “Ollie” wasn’t who he expected, he can’t help but consider bending a few of his rules—even if it means heeding to Olivia’s.

“I love you, sweet cheeks. Chat with you later?”

Bryson hears the conversations through the paper thin walls, but there’s a pain inside Olivia he can’t seem to walk away from. He vows to be there for her when the voice on the other side of the computer inevitably breaks her heart, but will he ever be able to compete with someone who’s more than a memory?

EXCERPT

I join him on the couch and wait for the awkward conversation to pop up again. It’s not the first time he’s caught me appreciating his body, and if he keeps living here, it won’t be the last. In my defense, he’s practically half naked and cut like an Olympian. I’d like to meet a heterosexual woman who wouldn’t do a double take at a shirtless Bryson Daniels. I imagine the list would lean toward the geriatric end of the spectrum, or the blind.

“What are you doing?” he chastises as I scoot a sliver of watercress away from my food. “That’s the best part!”

I hold my plate up for him as he stabs the evil vegetable with his fork and pops it into his mouth.

Plush lips, strong jaw, and masculine slashed eyebrows—this man has everything going for him.

I give my head a slight shake and turn my attention back to the TV. He seems relaxed and unfazed by sitting on the couch beside me. I, on the other hand, am full of turmoil. His thigh is touching mine, his shoulder bumps mine every now and then, and my body shakes slightly when he laughs, ever aware of his proximity.

“You seem like a Hermione,” he says as Harry and Ron sit down beside her in the library.

I watch her with sad eyes as she struggles to remain proud and unaffected by the naysayers trying to pull her down. I’m nothing like her. She stands up to those who throw negativity her way. She faces adversity with her head held high. I cower and hide.

“I wish I were as strong as her,” I say, my voice low. “I used to be like her.”

“What changed?” I tilt my head in his direction, finding the softness in his voice matches the compassion in his eyes.

Looking away, I shake my head, trying my best not to let the tears stinging my eyes fall down my cheek.

“Hey,” Bryson says, reaching over and hooking a finger under my chin, “forget I said anything.”

His finger is gone just as fast, and I miss his touch immediately. My appetite gone, I lean forward and place my half eaten plate of food on the coffee table, the idea of hiding away in my room sounding better by the second.

“Nope,” Bryson says. Picking up my plate, he puts it back on my lap and points to the pile of broccoli. “None of that. Only those in the Slytherin house refuse to eat their vegetables. You’re not Slytherin, are you?”

I grin at his silliness. “Hufflepuff all the way.”

I pop a chunk of food in my mouth.

“That’s what I thought.”

What Might Kill Us by M.N. Forgy is NOW LIVE!

Blurb
Brotherhood is what Bull bleeds and all that he knows.
Being the king of The Devil’s Dust and surrounded by easy women was his everyday… until having his heart broke rooted him to the bottom of a whiskey bottle.
Heartbroken, and drowning in lost memories he’s unsure of the direction of his life, when the answer – consisting of a terrified Mexican girl- nearly knocks him off his feet.
Determined to get his act together and rectify his club, he rides to Texas for answers, only to be confronted with the emotional ghosts he isn’t ready to deal with.
He sees Anahi, and he wants her.
But she may come with more baggage than Bull is ready for.

Anahi used to be prim and proper. She used to wear dresses and keep up appearances to impress people she didn’t know. I guess you could say she was a fucking lady.
But that was when she lived in Mexico with her parents.
Before her uncle turned on her.
Before, the only man she ever loved, her step-brother, betrayed her.
Before she was forced to be a drug mule for the Cartel.
Evening gowns a lost memory, expensive heels traded for boots, and a nine millimeter in her hand instead of a limited edition purse. Anahi sets aside everything she’s ever known including the fairytale stories her mother told her about America.
She’s angry, determined, and looking for a way out.

EXCERPT
**Beware - x-rated**

“Bull?” my voice breathy.
“Yeah?”
“The last time I let someone close to me… it didn’t go well.”
He pecks a kiss on my erect nipple that was in his mouth seconds before.
“Anahi, Alvaro is a boy pretending to be a man, and I’m about to show you the difference between pretending and actually being,” he states matter of fact, his tone smug.
I smirk. “You’re so arrogant.”
He lifts his chin, his eyes finding mine. “Only one way to find out, darlin’,” he states wolfishly.  “I’m going to fuck you to the point you’ll have to take your time sitting down afterwards, baby.”
With that, the head of his length presses into me. My back arches off the bed, an audible gasp leaving my lips. Bull pushes in another couple inches, filling me to the point I swear I can’t take anymore. The sensation of burning and bliss battling with one another I can’t help but fidget beneath him. I don’t know whether to cry or moan.
He slips in more, filling me to the brink and a cry rips up my throat. Bull presses his lips against mine, silencing my pain.
Fucking me like he hates me, but kissing me like he cares.
