Easton Wells has spent years burying his guilt by digging up some of the world’s most renowned treasures while surviving the dangerous terrains in which they’re located—all captured for television. When his producers threaten to axe the show, he has no choice but to turn to the last person he still trusts—the girl he left behind. Rain Walker has made a name for herself documenting wild and endangered animals, and the last voice she expects to hear while shooting in South Africa is Easton’s. He’s more gorgeous than she remembers, but the pain in her heart is as fresh as ever. They’d once planned on spending the rest of their lives together, but after her father’s tragic death while on expedition in Israel with him, Easton bailed on their future together without an explanation. It’s been nine years, and yet the intense love they shared seems only a moment ago. When he asks her to film his latest treasure hunt, Rain wants to turn him down instantly. But when he explains it’s to the same cave that swallowed her father, she can’t say no. She wants to experience the last place her father was alive, and she’s beyond curious about what happened to the boy she used to love. They’ve got two weeks to locate a treasure that’s been lost for centuries, or Easton will lose the one thing in his life he’s come to depend on. As their old passion is reignited—and dark secrets uncovered—they face the extreme terrain of the mountain range that threatens them at every turn. As more than the wildlife and sharp drop-offs tries to kill them, Rain starts to question if the legendary treasure they seek—the same one her father had died trying to unearth—is truly meant to be found, or if some things, including their feelings for each other, are better left buried.

Quinn Taylor had a plan, and it didn’t include Alex Conway.

With Quinn’s decisions no longer her own, her friends questioning her judgment, her life spinning out of control; she’s not sure about anything she once believed in. Alex has found something to believe in – Quinn. He knows what life is like without her and it a life he no longer wants to live.
Just when it seems things can’t get any worse, chaos ensues leaving them both out of time and out of options. Should Alex try for Quinn’s love without a guarantee in sight? Will Quinn be able to marry one man, to save herself, while knowing it will destroy the one man who truly loves her? Their lives are about to be flipped upside down – one way or another. Will they have the strength to work against life’s obstacles and find true happiness together? Can Alex get Quinn to see she’s about to make a huge mistake? Can he show her a side of love that’s irrefutable?
Can I trust him? That’s the biggest question I need to answer before I can say a word about the driving force of this wedding. A wedding that’s supposed to take place in less than eight hours. For two years I thought of Alex as this amazing man, the man who was going to change my world. I let him in—I gave him parts of me I never gave anyone else, and I’m not just talking about sex. Alex got further in than anyone else since my time as an immature teenager, and it ended in a lot of confusion and hurt. My walls are my safety net; I put them there for a reason. No one had ever gotten past them, and I thought that’s how it was always going to be—until Alex. But Jordan made it in too. I tried to hate him, but it didn’t work. Jordan isn’t my enemy. How can I hurt him? He’s stood by me through everything my dad has done to me. He may not know the full weight of my father’s threats, but he’s still been my rock through it all. When everyone else had something negative to say about what we’re doing, Jordan had my back, to the point of being willing to marry me to save me.
Kimberly is a stay at mom of four crazy beautiful children. She lives in New Jersey with her husband of ten years and enjoys every minute of her never dull life. She loves a good book that is impossible to put down and you will mostly likely find her reading in her downtime, unless of course, there is a football game on.

Up until a few days ago, Kimberly Bracco was a very new to me author. I started out with Fallacy. At first glance Quinn, the lead female character, is the kind of character that you expect from you lead male. She has a very cocky attitude and she is very straight forward when it comes to picking up men. They only serve one purpose for her and no one gets a second glance. Then she meets Alex. Without even realizing it, little by little, Alex begins to wear her down and take some control. Quinn’s father is a terrible man. In this book you don’t get the clearest picture of why Quinn’s relationship is the way it is with her father, however, she clearly shuts everything and everyone else out to put her work first. She feels like she must prove to herself to her father.

There are several interesting side characters that add a good amount of extras to the book. Tanner and Ashley are Quinn and Alex’s best friends and not only are great supporting characters in the story, but have their own bit of side story and turmoil to add to the mix.

There is a bit of a time jump in the book where Alex and Quinn are separated because out of the blue, Quinn just ends it with Alex. The readers can tell that it’s mostly her being insecure, but Alex is left clueless and broken hearted. Some new characters come into play when Tiffany and Jordan are added to the story, making it a bit suspenseful.

When at last Alex and Quinn are reunited and some interesting bits start to unfold, the book ends in a cliffhanger. Good news is if you are just now discovering Kimberly’s books as I just did the second book Irrefutable is now available so you do not have to wait to get the rest of Quinn and Alex’s story.

The writing is excellent. The characters are fun, interesting and well developed. I am giving this book a four star rating. The slower pace of the book from about fifty percent to the cliffhanger was a little too much for me. I think somewhere during Alex and Quinn’ separation if the author would have had them interact in some way with each other rather than the side characters that would have made it so much better for me personally.

I rarely choose a book to read when there is a cliffhanger so it’s a bit of a miracle that I am here to review this one. I’m glad I chose to read it. This book really brings things together for me. There felt like so many unanswered questions in the first book. Alex is really an amazing and supporting character in this book. His love for Quinn is so strong and so obvious when he decides to put his feelings aside to be there for her while she deals with the situation with her father, even if that means being her friend. Quinn turns to Alex when things fall apart for her because she feels safe with him and feels like he is the one person she can trust. There was less focus on the side characters with this book though they still have significant parts in the book. There is a lot of suspense in this book because Quinn decides to stand up to her father and not allow him to control and ruin her life. It’s interesting to see her realize her feelings for Alex and their relationship. Other characters in the book play big parts in helping her accomplish all of this. This book really brought the story together with a wonderful conclusion. Kimberly has done an outstanding job with creating a suspenseful and drama filled romance book. I gave the first book four stars, however, with this book the Apprehensive Duet series became a five star read for me.
